Madeira Beach Spring Soccer Recap
This past week, the Madeira Beach
Recreation Spring Soccer season wrapped up on the fields at Madeira Beach
Fundamental. In the 4-5 age group, the Championship game featured a roster
filled with the 2014 fall champions representing the American Legion Post #273 and
a returning head coach leading the way for Pro-Master Painting. Coach DaSilva
and Pro-Master paced the way all season long with a league leading 6-2 record
to earn their way into the playoffs. American Legion struggled early on but
caught fire late in the season and carried that momentum all the way to the
championship game. In what turned out to be one of the closest games all season
long on the smaller field, turned out to be an exciting 2-1 victory for the
Pro-Master Painting team.
In the 6-8 age group, Coach
Travis and Coach Miller faced off as the Beach Hardware & Marine and Ray
Cook Realtor teams trail blazed their way into the playoffs while each posting
a 7-1 record, with their only loses against each other. On a beach Madeira
Beach Tuesday night, the two teams played a close first half, with Beach
Hardware holding a 2-1 lead after the first 25 minutes. After Ray Cook Realtor
pushed the game to a 2-2, Beach Hardware opened the flood gates and closed out
their championship season with a 5-2 victory.
On the big field, red hot Fine
Wood Design entered the playoffs with a 7-1 record as the clear favorite to
take home the championship. The 2nd seeded team, sponsored by Zom
Hee, entered the playoffs with a 4-4 record, just getting by Pipo’s CafĂ© to
earn their shot in the title game. After a close first half, both teams headed
to the sideline tied and with a championship in their sights. Scoring
opportunities for both teams were abound in the 2nd half, and Zom
Hee closed out a pair of goals to earn themselves the victory and the title of
Madeira Beach Recreation Champions!
The 2015 Spring Soccer marked the
1st time soccer was offered in the Spring with Madeira Beach
